Every year on February 3rd is the Bean-Throwing festival, called Setsubun in Japan.

According to tradition, throwing roasted soy beans while chanting "In with Fortune! Out with Evil!" prevents evil from entering one's house and should bring good fortune for the year.

People also eat a big sushi roll, called Eho-maki. The proper way to eat it is to face a certain direction and eat the entire roll without stopping or speaking in order to be happy for the rest of the year.

If you happen to be in Japan during this period, you may be able to witness a lot of events and festivals hosted by local temples.

Make sure to not miss it while in Japan !
